The Moose are Loose in Jackson Hole!
Look for Moose along the rivers in the summer and in the sage flats in the early part of winter. When the snow gets deep, they return to the river bottoms.
Click Here to return to Best of the TetonsBulls begin growing their antlers in the spring, and by the end of August, are ready to strip the tender velvet. At that point, the fall rut begins! The bulls will sport their wonderful antlers until sometime in mid-December to early January when the antlers fall to the sagebrush and river bottoms. Moose are unsightly, antlerless, and shaggy for a month or two in the spring as they shed their winter fur. By mid-summer, they will have sleek new coats again.
