Deer in Jackson Hole

Mule Deer are year around residents of Jackson Hole, but aren’t always easy to find and photograph. White-tailed Deer share the forests with the Mule Deer in some areas. White-tailed Deer make photographing mule deer feel like a walk in the park! White-tailed deer typically bound off, flashing their trademark white tails, long before I have a chance for a shot. In the winter, Mule Deer can be seen grazing the hillside near the National Museum of Wildlife Art, but I seldom see the large bucks with them. A fair number of Mule Deer and a few White-tailed Deer winter around the small town of Kelly inside GTNP.
